Coolpad launches Cool 1 with Dual Cameras for Rs. 13,999
Today, Coolpad announced its flagship – Cool 1, an amalgamation of software and hardware strengths of LeEco and Coolpad.
How COOL is Cool 1?
Cool 1 is powered by Snapdragon 652 CPU coupled with 4GB of RAM. This is backed up by a beefy 4000 mAh battery and 32GB of internal storage. Although it has no SD card slot, it makes up for it with dual SIM card slots.
“Last couple of years have been a dream run for us in India. We have achieved more than we had planned for and this has only been possible due to our philosophy to bring high quality products with specifications and pricing that consumers want. 2017 will be a game changer for Coolpad in India as we plan to capture 4% of market share. We already have offline presence in 5 cities with a reach in 3000 stores. It is only because of the quality of our products that today Coolpad has a 25% market share on Amazon in the sub Rs8000 category. Coolpad has now expanded its market to other regions and the smartphones will now be available in Bangladesh and Nepal.” said Syed Tajuddin, CEO, Coolpad India.
Cool 1 packs a dual rear camera (13MP) module with dual tone LED flash, 8MP front facing camera (or selfie camera, as cool kids say these days), 5.5 inch display with Full HD (1920×1080) screen resolution and all of your regular goodies like bluetooth, 4G (with VoLTE), WiFi, GPS, FM Radio, etc.
“India is among the top performing markets for Coolpad where we have sold close to 3 million units. The response we have got from our consumer over the years with every launch has been overwhelming and we are touched by the love of our Cool fans. We are constantly innovating and bringing products that the consumers want. Under the dual-brand strategy we aim to earn a spot within the top 5 smartphone manufacturers in China and in India. Coolpad has a very strong research and development legacy and owns thousands of patents, including one for dual-SIM cards.” said James Du, Global CEO, Coolpad Group.
Cool 1 reminds me a lot of Le 2. No surprise, it’s the result of the collaboration b/w LeEco and Coolpad. Hardware wise, it feels pretty solid overall but, it is the software which bothers me. Cool 1 has “LeEco inside” i.e. it runs on their EUI which is one horrendously estranged Android skin. It looks and functions nowhere close to stock android and I doubt if it’ll even get a legit OS update. EVER.
When and where can I buy it?
Cool 1 will be available from 5th January on Amazon for Rs. 13,999 and you know what’s the best part? It’ll be an open sale! Good riddance, flash sales!
